The Evolution of Cattleman U
OUR WHY
When my brother returned to the ranch to work, he lost the time and opportunity to continue his education.
Chores, kids and management responsibilities prevented him from going to conferences or even local cattlemen’s meetings. At a time when he needed support and education to do his job well, he didn’t have either one.
That’s why I initially created Cattleman U.
We all have a valuable role to play in ensuring the next generation of cattlemen and women keep ranching. Cattleman U helps us identify our role, find success through resources and training, and commit to lifelong learning for the betterment of the cattle industry as a community.
In 2022 we made a shift in Cattleman U to focus on supporting women in the cattle industry. I saw a need to add creativity back to operations and women do just that.
When thinking about some of the most successful operations, they have a woman at the business table who is fulfilling the role that she wants to. Our goal is to support ranch women and provide the tools for them to step into the roles and jobs they want to.
We see too often that women lack the experience to confidently do the tasks they want to do around the ranch.
We wanted to create a space where women from any background can learn about the industry and find their place in it. Whether you are a ranch wife, mother, daughter or starting your own operation we need you in the industry!
Because too many farm and ranch families enter the operation, or start their own, and lose the opportunity to learn, grow and network with others.
You need access to the latest tips and strategies to make your operation profitable. And more importantly, you need to surround yourself with like-minded producers to learn from and find accountability.
Cattleman U gives you both.
